Building Dreams (2003)

This is an 8-part Series about the history of Singapore architecture for Arts Central produced by Xtreme Productions. The writers were Ho Weng Hin and Tan Kar Lin, crack architectural historians. I directed the episodes on early Singapore architecture as well as the episode on conservation. We were given access to film the inside of the Supreme Court dome (to illustrate that it was held together merely by iron girdles and not fancy medieval brickwork, see below) and a house designed by Ho Kwong Yew, which featured reinforced concrete that was all the rage then. His houses also featured one of the earliest roof gardens in Singapore pictured below
Building Dreams was Telecast in 2002. The series is available for viewing at the National University of Singapore Library as well as the National Library (Lee Kong Chian Reference Library)
