AFTERLIFE is an anthology of six half-hour episodes revolving around the theme of death. Each episode is a portrait of someone who will introduce you to different death rites from the cultures of Asia
Five portraits were commissioned from India, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore. The series premiered in August 2003 just in time for the Hungry Ghost month.
Gently macabre, sometimes funny but always humane, the guides take you to places you have never been as they run their daily errands attending to the afterlife.
AFTERLIFE was the result of the collaboration between emerging documentary talents in Asia. It is a co-production between Discovery Networks Asia and VHQ TV – VHQ Post.
Together with Jasmine Ng, I was AFTERLIFE’S series editor. I also directed two episodes in this series. Gravediggers’ Luck which won an Asian TV Award and Praying for Pray
